In Grand Rapids, there’s no shortage of summer adventures for you to embark on. For your convenience, SteadyFare has compiled this list of 7 of the coolest events to attend in Grand Rapids this summer:

1. Founders Fest 2016
a. Only the biggest party of the year, Founders Fest is where beer-lovers gather street-side to meet other beer-lovers, listen to music, and eat delicious food. Grab a SteadyFare designated driver, and don’t forget your I.D. for this 21 and up event, June 18 from 3 to 11 p.m.

2. The Drunken Retort
a. Held at Stella’s Lounge on Commerce Ave., this series of events shows off the local GR creative community in a unique way compared to the other art events on this list. With featured spoken-word artists, slam poets, comedians, musicians, and an open mic for newcomers, every Monday at Stella’s Lounge is a party this summer.

3. Made In Michigan Pop-Up Marketplace
a. Experience the essence of Michigan every fourth Sunday of the summer. May through September, this market hosts vendors and business selling the coolest artisan gifts, local food, and Michigan-based delights.

4. Grand Jazz Fest
a. This free, weekend-long jazz festival hosts 11 performers for the ultimate jazz experience your whole family can enjoy. Held outside at Rosa Parks Circle, the downtown location of this event makes it easy to sit on the grass and have treats with the family, or run over to one of the many restaurants or pubs that line the street. You choose!

5. Grand Rapids Color Run
a. For the more athletic crowd, Grand Rapids hosts its annual color run on August 6th. You can run, jog, or walk this 5k and, after getting sprayed with tropical-scented powders, end up at the Finish Festival for some post-run fun. Tickets are available now, so get yours today and start planning with friends and family.

6. Artprize 2016
a. Defined on their website as a “radically open international art competition,” ArtPrize is a world of its own in Grand Rapids. September 21 through October 9 of this year, nearly half a million people will walk the streets of downtown Grand Rapids to discuss art and why it matters, and will participate in a public vote that results in two $200,000 grand prizes and more that $500,000 in awards for artists that are presenting. Don’t even think about driving yourself, though- there’s no parking to be found during the weeks of ArtPrize. Grab a SteadyFare driver to save yourself the pain of parking, and check out ArtPrize’s comprehensive website to find out more about this event.

7. The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival
a. Okay, so this one isn’t in Grand Rapids, but the 40 minute drive to Grand Haven and the shore of Lake Michigan is so worth it for this summer event! Hitch a ride with a SteadyFare driver and make your way to the festival to see the carnival, tour one of the ships, get your groove on at the street dance, and so much more. There’s no shortage of fun at this festival, stationed in Coast Guard City, USA.

Wherever your adventures take you, stay safe on those Michigan roads this summer, and don’t forget to have a designated driver handy. To catch a safe and affordable ride to and from these events, check out SteadyFare at www.steadyfare.com, or download
